Heal the land Initiative in Nigeria is a Non-governmental organization that improves the lives of women, young people, children and people living with HIV through self development and community participation”
We work to uphold the dignity of women and vulnerable groups in Nigeria. We are committed to improving livelihood among women, children, people living with HIV/AIDS/disability, young people through innovative health, education, development, outreach and Referral Services. We mobilize communities and offer access to information, education, counseling and support through a variety of social, recreational, volunteer opportunities and exchange programs.
As women, we have a lot to offer to the marginalized group we represent.
Managers of HELIN are groups of women from different vocations, administrators, academicians, social workers, businesswomen, and women living with HIV joined together to make life meaningful for vulnerable groups in Nigeria through gender-sensitive programs. HELIN is characterized by committed, dedicated, and hardworking members and staff whose skills and level of involvement in the organization have proven results in saving the lives of vulnerable groups and reducing the impact of developmental issues in the communities.

HELIN ACHIEVEMENTS
Our organization started in the year 2000 as a support group in one of our member’s house and became a Community Based Organization in 2003 registered with cooperate affairs commission (CAC) as Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) in 2007.


HELIN is characterized by committed, dedicated and hardworking members and staff whose skills and level of involvement in the organization has proven results in saving lives and reducing the impact of developmental issues in the communities where we work. Our target populations are women, children, young people, people living with HIV and people with disabilities.
HELIN has expertise skills in creating demand for services in hard to reach communities in Akwa Ibom State through our community dialogue meetings, income generating activities and HIV prevention activities including treatment adherence support and PMTCT. HELIN has been working on HIV and health-related issues since 2001. We started with our personal contributions to provide care and support services to PLHIV. Orphans and vulnerable children (OVC), conduct HIV awareness program in communities, schools, churches and hospitals. We also provide counselling services and make referrals to clients. On the long run, HELIN has provided services to over 12,000 PLHIV on Home Base Care, provided counselling and referral services to over 5000 PLHIV, reached over 15,140 orphans and vulnerable children, provided Treatment adherence counselling to 10,356 PLHIV, reached 300 women on Ante natal clinic with PMTCT services and has reached over 1,000 young people with HIV and formation of supports in Akwa Ibom State.
We have trainable staff strength of 21 and 213 volunteers, who are skilled in the areas of community mobilization, HIV prevention, PMTCT, advocacy, Research, Home Base Care (HBC), project design, proposal writing and resource mobilization. Our Project Management Team is comprised of young, articulate, and vibrant young women and men that work tirelessly to improve the lives of vulnerable groups in hard-to-reach communities.
